A Message from the Parade Committee
The South Amboy Saint Patrick's Day Parade Committee Announces Plans to Offer Residents a Parade In September 2021
The year 2020 has been a stressful one and we were all looking forward to enjoying the annual South Amboy Saint Patrick's Day Parade. The stress of social isolation, virtual learning and scheduling a COVID vaccination had residents looking forward to a family day outside celebrating at the annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade previously scheduled for March 23, 2021.
Recognizing that this year’s parade may draw larger crowds than in the past, the Parade Committee made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s parade with plans to hold the celebration in September or early Fall.
"The decision to postpone the parade was made after much discussion,” stated Parade Committee Co-Chair Mickey Gross. "As hard as that decision was, doing what must be done to keep the residents of South Amboy and her surrounding communities safe and healthy must be our first priority."
Co-Chair Jay Elliot, went on to explain, " This event has always drawn large crowds of participants and spectators which may make following precautionary social distancing and masking measures intended to stem the spread of the virus more difficult to enforce. We cannot, in good conscience, put thousands of people at risk for exposure.”
The Parade Committee is hoping to be able to provide a parade, although on a much smaller scale in September. We will all have to wait and see if current efforts to stem the spread of the virus and to vaccinate residents of New Jersey will allow them to do so.

It is with great sadness that the South Amboy Parade Committee must report of the passing of 2 of our own; Linda L. Milburn Klink and James "Jim" John Gillingham. Both were dedicated volunteers with the Parade Committee and always brought us such happiness and joy. They will both be missed very much. Please visit out In Memoriam page.
